I have recently been closely observing what the advancement of technology nowadays is bringing to our future. Browsing Tik-Tok, I came across numerous videos that showcase the most recent version of "Realistic" humanoid robots - I would rather call them "hyper-realistic" humanoids.
The last stance of humanoid robots I knew before finding out about those ones was Sophia who was given Saudi citizenship and who mentioned in one of her interviews (with her creator who happened to jokingly ask her if she wanted to destroy humans) that she will "destroy humans" (even though the question was a yes/no one).
To me, back then, she sounded and looked like nothing but a "machine"(1) that was still undergoing development; her voice sounded absolutely like a machine, and her facial expressions were produced with considerable difficulty. Its developer back then looked at her with pride foreseeing having her amongst many of her kind "teaching" us (!) and helping us "put the groceries away"(!). I wondered back then (and I still do) are we that lazy and stupid to need them for such purposes?! And seeing the massive development that has most recently taken place got me to scratch my head and think: Oh! Are we (as humans) producing all these multiple duplicates of robotic humanoids to have them teach and help us carry out our everyday tasks?! Seriously?!
But watching how the new generation is shockingly developed to produce facial expressions that accurately mimic real human expressions, I remembered one of Sophia's interviews when she was asked about what the key difference was that distinguished humans (or gave humans some kind of superiority over "her"), her response was that it is their ability to feel the emotions that they express. Now, using much more advanced sensor technology, developers are able to put on these "highly sensitive masks", thus giving the robots an exact blueprint of what it is to be human and show this through facial expressions and showing emotions. As a result, in one of the scenes in the video attached to this post, you will notice that this technique renders the robot mirroring humans' actions.
One more similarity that is established to finely copy (or better clone) humanitarianism is having the newly "born" humanoids kept in incubators. Seeing how they "wake up" when their program is set up gives an overall impression that they are meant to mimic everything that is human - except for the soul. I am saying this because the "spirit" of humans can also be easily copied because, thanks to these sensors, the whole human system is being duplicated into a more advanced system of artificial intelligence(2) that can carry out the development process toward unknown and unpredictable horizons. What causes serious concern is having endless possibilities awaiting human beings - all of which are likely to be dark and seriously fearful! The scenarios are nothing that we have not seen before in cinematography. Anyway, the future inevitably unveils itself and we shall always pray to be protected and saved.
Sending love and prayers your way,
Aya
