Future?
Future is usually a deceptive word. Once it is said, the first thing that usually comes to mind is the distant years that haven't yet come. But, in fact, our future is simply the next second! Yes! This one that has just passed! And is followed by another one; just now!!
Future is closer to you than you think!
That is why it is extremely simple to change the face of your future and entire life; one second after the other.
Time!
Time is the only divine gift that could not be retrieved no matter what! Once it is gone, it is gone - now and forever! It is only in your possession in your now! After this now is gone, it is also gone! Men of religion from all backgrounds speak about the importance of time, and about the fact that it is a precious gift that should be invested the best way possible!
The Best Way Possible..
This best way possible differs due to personal preferences and life goals. And due to the mission they are meant to undertake here in this lifetime; be it good or bad - only God knows. However, it is always man's choice!
You are the one who chooses to spend all your leisure time, everyday, playing games, watching TV, drinking, or doing nothing. This is your daily routine. You are also the one who chooses to spend your leisure time gaining more knowledge and experience, developing yourself and your skills. This is your daily habit!
"Nothing"
I wrote about the "doing nothing" attitude in previous posts. I'm referring to it here again because I want to draw the reader's attention to the difference between doing nothing to charge your batteries, and taking "doing nothing" as a leisure-time lifestyle! Then, I'd like to differentiate between having a routine and having a habit, and clarify why I'm using routine to describe wasting time but habit with investing it.
"Routine" & "Habit"
Not all routines are harmful; however, when some practice becomes a routine, it brings harm with it. For routine is monotonous, and monotony is boring, and boredom makes life tasteless. You can not live up to your best potential when you are bored!
So, the boredom of monotony caused by the unproductive activities that we referred to earlier reduces our productivity and kills our creativity.
Habit, on the other hand, is usually associated with the mental activities we choose to stick to. Thus, if your mind is convinced that it is much better for you to spend your free time doing activities of self-development for a better social, psychological and professional life, it (i.e. your mind) will normally push you toward taking such useful activities.
What to do?
Understand that you are given this time, by God, in order to invest it for your own good, and for the good of those you love - be they your loved one, your family members, your society, or humanity as a whole. Pay attention to the unique qualities that are bestowed upon you by God, enjoy putting them to work, and living with your total capacity by investing every minute of your precious time.
Good times to you all
